Our first phone-free Family Day was exactly what we hoped it would be - an opportunity to spend intentional time OFF our phones, reconnecting with friends and family. Thanks to our friends at CTV Morning Live Calgary (Jodi Hughes, Jefferson Humphries and Neena Gil) for inviting us on the show to talk about the movement and help spread the word.

So many of you reached out after participating to share your good and bad experiences. Just being aware of the uncomfortable feeling of being away from your phone for a defined set of time is the first step in building healthier habits.

Here's some of the feedback we got from participants:

"It was the change I didn’t know I needed! We spent the morning at the pool, I caught up on some of my to-do lists and had a great afternoon being present and focused with my little one and husband 😌 I 💯 noticed that I felt more grounded and refreshed… in one day! ~Elizabeth

"I have two teenagers, and I got eye rolls when I suggested we try this. But we agreed to all taking a 6-hour break on Family Day. It wasn't easy. In fact, it was uncomfortable at times, but I think at the end of the day we went away with a new found awareness of how much lost time we are experiencing when we're constantly tethered to our phones." ~ Ilia

"I really like the idea of disconnecting to reconnect! 8+ hours of screen time [for the average teenager] is crazy! My own screen time isn't a very good stat either." ~Manwinder
