Tara recently joined Tiana Fech on her People Teaching People podcast to talk about something deeply personal, how we can build a healthier, more human relationship with technology.
As a mom of three, Tara faced the same challenge many parents do: deciding when (and how) to give her kids smartphones. When she couldn’t find a healthy option, she decided to create one.
That’s how NOBLE technology and our first product, BE.connect, were born; Canada’s first child-safe, senior-friendly smartphone designed for connection without distraction or manipulation.
Our mission at NOBLE is simple: we want connection, not addiction. Technology should support our lives ... not control them. Through our work, and through the NOBLE Alliance for Digital Wellness and Tech for Good, we’re helping families, schools, and communities rethink how tech fits into daily life.
Tiana and Tara talked about:
How Tara's search for a safer phone became a movement for mindful innovation
Why simplicity and privacy matter more than ever
Practical ways families can set healthy tech boundaries at home
How schools can teach digital awareness and critical thinking
The vision behind BE.connect, a phone designed for digital well-being
At NOBLE, we believe the future of technology lies in empathy, ethics, and design that honours human connection. Together, we can shape a world where innovation and wellness go hand in hand.
A big thank you to Tiana for creating such thoughtful spaces for meaningful conversations about learning, leadership, and the human side of innovation!
